In addition to being an alumna of The Miami Valley School, Janney is a seven-time Emmy Award winner, four of which were for her role as C.J. Cregg on NBC's The West Wing, alongside fellow Dayton natives Martin Sheen and Rob Lowe. A two-time Screen Actors Guild winner, she's also won a 2014 Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series for her role as Margaret Scully on Showtime's Masters of Sex. Janney stars as Bonnie Plunkett, the "Mom" to Anna Faris' Christy Plunkett on Mom.
The Miami Valley School's Immersion Program is a four-week learning experience that helps its students network and learn on-site in a single, elected field, according to a press release from the school. Students on the Los Angeles Immersion trip toured studios and met with several alumni in the entertainment industry at the end of a monthlong, in-depth study. Students presented their own TV pilots, music videos, and movie trailers for their final projects.
"This Immersion made the entertainment world so realistic and it solidified that I want to pursue a career in this business," said Miami Valley School junior Emma Russell in the press release. The school, 5151 Denise Dr., will host their annual Immersion Open House, open to the public, on Feb. 10 at 7 p.m.
