Houston stands with Dayton; banner offers messages of support

Dayton’s pain following the Oregon District mass shooting is affecting people all over the country, including in the Lone Star State.

News Center 7’s sister station in Houston, KHOU-TV, knew people there wanted to offer support, so they gave them the opportunity.

“I do appreciate the support from Houston,” Sherry Polzella of Dayton said.

It’s been a difficult week for Daytonians.

“It’s been extremely sad,” Sandy Daniels of Dayton said.

“It’s been frustrating,” Don Polzella said.

And that's a pain the Houston area understands following a deadly mass shooting last year.

News Center 7’s sister station KHOU put up a banner outside a Houston Astros game. Hundreds of people lined up in the Texas heat to write messages of encouragement, offer prayers, love and a reminder that Dayton will get through this.

“I jut think it’s fantastic that they took the time to send this up to Dayton,” Daniels said.
