A Dayton woman was killed in a Saturday night crash on Lexington-Salem Road.

Highway Patrol Sgt. John Chesser said that a Dodge Dakota pick-up truck was westbound on Lexington-Salem Road near the Preble-Montgomery county line.  He said the truck went off the right side, overcorrected, and then went left off the road into a tree line.

Lora J. Sandlin, 46, of Dayton was a front seat passenger. She was pronounced dead on the scene by the Preble County coroner.

The driver, Sean T. Hercutt, 44 of New Carlisle was taken to Miami Valley Hospital by Careflight. He was initially listed in critical condition, but was reportedly in good condition Sunday afternoon.

"As far as the amount of damage done to the vehicle, this is as bad as I have seen in my 31 years" said West Alexandria Fire Chief Jeff Shafer.

Sgt. Chesser said that alcohol is being investigated as a factor in the accident.  There were a number of beer cans found at the accident scene.

Charges are expected in the accident.
