The discovery of a body believed to be that of a female has prompted a death investigation, Springfield police said.

Police said the death is considered “suspicious.”
The body was found Wednesday in a wooded area off Delta Road at or near Rice Street, based on a call to police by a citizen about 2:30 p.m., a police lieutenant said.
