Downed trees damaging property as ice coats region

Trees and branches are coming down across the area after ice coated the Miami Valley Thursday morning, damaging property in some cases.

In the 3060 block of E. Stroop in Kettering, a large tree fell onto a home. The homeowner said the "whole house shook" when the tree landed on the roof.

On Ridgebury Drive in Kettering, a tree fell on a home in the 4500 block around 7:30 a.m.  Part of the roof of the home was crushed under the weight of the tree.

The owner told News Center 7 he was in bed trying to decided whether he wanted to go into work early, when he heard a loud crash.

On Eckworth Drive in Bellbrook, police and fire crews responded after a tree reportedly damaged a home in that area around 9:30 a.m.

On Schantz Avenue in Oakwood, a large tree fell onto a car parked on the side of the road around 9 a.m.

On East David Road in Kettering, a tree fell on a parked car around 7:30 a.m., blocking a portion of the road.
