RELATED: Rain to return midweek
The cause of the large circulation is due to a drainage tunnel covered by high water from the recent heavy rainfall. Storm Center 7 Chief Meteorologist Eric Elwell said that while it is certainly strange to look at, it is pretty normal in this area when the water runs high.
The water from the Stillwater River flows into the drain and into the Englewood Reservoir.
It’s just like water going down your bathtub drain, Elwell said, except on a much larger scale.
