Driver injured in Clayton crash that splits pole

A single-vehicle crash along East Westbrook Road tonight has shut down a stretch of the road because of a utility pole left split in half by the accident.

A Dayton Power & Light crew is on scene, in the 300 block of Westbrook, to repair the pole.

The driver of the car is in serious condition, according to information Clayton police have passed on to Montgomery County Regional Dispatch.

Rescue crews were called to the area just after 9 p.m. on a report of an accident with a victim trapped.

East Westbrook Road will be shut down for several hours, from North Main Street to the east to Volk Road to the west, to allow DP&L to replace the pole, according to police and the sheriff's office.
