Group: John Kopicky, 17, has earned the rank of Eagle Scout. Kopicky is a junior at Centerville High School. He cleared overgrowth, and designed new landscape in Stringtown Park for his Eagle project. Stringtown Park, located at 9191 Woodstream Lane in Centerville, is part of the Centerville-Washington Park District. Kopicky, a member of Troop 116, also serves as a senior patrol leader. The project was 90 hours total.

When was it? Kopicky and about 20 volunteers completed the project in June 2012. They cleared weeds, and planted shrubs, perennials and grass seed. The group also spread mulch and hay near a bench.

How did it go? "It was kind of nerve wracking," Kopicky said. "It was hard to keep everyone doing something, but it was definitely worth it. It took four or five hours."

What was the best part? "Being satisfied that I accomplished the highest rank of scouting. Afterward I evaluated myself to see how I did, and it was very satisfactory. There are a few people who came around said how much better it looked."
