There’s nothing that says Christmas quite like a production of the classic holiday ballet, “The Nutcracker.” The Kuss Auditorium at the Clark State Performing Arts Center will host the Ohio Performing Arts Institute’s 28th annual rendition of the production on Friday, Dec. 15, and Saturday, Dec. 16.

Both performances start at 8 p.m. More than 180 local students, professional dancers and community members will perform as Clara, the Sugarplum Fairy and the Nutcracker Prince travel the Land of Sweets. Tickets for the show start at $13 and are available through ticketmaster.
The Service of Carols and Lights
Covenant Presbyterian Church invites the community to its Service of Carols and Lights on Sunday, Dec. 17.
The service includes performances by the choir and participants can sing their favorite Christmas hymns and carols. The music begins at 4:30 p.m. with an organ prelude. The service itself starts at 5 p.m. All are welcome.
Reindeer Roundup at New Reid Park
Join in the hunt with National Trail Parks and Recreation District as they continue the Reindeer Roundup at New Reid Park, located at 3144 E. Leffel Lane in Springfield.

Santa’s reindeer have gotten loose and its up to participants to track them down inside the park. If you manage to snap a picture of the wayward animal and submit it by tagging the National Trail’s Facebook page on the photo, you’ll be entered to win prizes in a drawing, which will take place Dec. 26. The event will last in New Reid Park until Dec. 19 before moving to a new location.
The Christmas Star
Enjoy a star-filled evening looking for the Christmas Star as the Clark County Park District holds its Christmas Star event starting at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15, at the Davidson Interpretive Center, 3658 Lower Valley Pike in Springfield. The event will provide information about the Christmas Star, or the Star of Bethlehem, and look at the stars through a telescope, if weather permits.
Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs for viewing. Hot cocoa will be provided.
