McIntosh’s cousin, Rebecca Hauser, said McIntosh, a maintenance employee at Hammacher, was on the roof showing workers from a roofing company some leaks when he fell off. She said he fell on his head and died instantly.
Hauser described McIntosh as a hard worker and a good father who always smiled.
Barbara Wilson, communications and information director for West Chester Twp., said McIntosh was dead when firefighters arrived. She said police, who did not release McIntosh’s identity Monday, described the death as “a tragic accident.”
Wilson said the investigation was forwarded to Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
According to its Web site, Hammacher Schlemmer Co., a catalog business, “offers the best, the only, and the unexpected for 163 years.”
McIntosh was born in Beckley, W.Va. He’s survived by his parents; brother; two daughters; one son; two step daughters; and several grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Ave., Hamilton. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor Valerie Trissell officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park.
