Firefighters investigating barn fire

SUGARCREEK TWP., GREENE COUNTY— Fire investigators are trying to determine the cause of a two-story barn fire that occurred Wednesday, Nov. 18 at 2110 Stewart Road.

No injuries were reported.

Sugarcreek Twp. firefighters were dispatched to the fire at 11:20 a.m., according to Capt. Joann Zimmerman.

When firefighters arrived, they found the 40 x 60 wooden and metal barn fully engulfed, Zimmerman said. It was at least 20 feet away from the house.

“No livestock at all,” Zimmerman said.

Fire investigators are still trying to determine if the fire started on the inside of the barn.

Zimmerman did not have an estimated damage cost, but said the barn was completely destroyed.

Damage to the house included a cracked window and melted speakers.

No other information was available at this time.
