Chief: Blaze at Boomerang Rubber Co. under control; 9 departments respond

The fire at Boomerang Rubber Company is under control, but the building is a total loss, Botkins Fire Chief Pat Fullenkamp said.

Nine area fire departments responded to the large fire reported around 1:20 p.m. at 105 Dinsmore St. at the former Lot-Ridge Rubber Co.

The structure that burned is one of several on the property. It was used for storage of rubber, Fullenkamp said.

Smoke billowing from the burning building could be seen for miles.

A large fire at the Lot-Ridge Rubber Company in Botkins is contained, but not under control, according to fire officials.

FIRST REPORT

Firefighters responded to a fire at the Lot-Ridge Rubber Company on Dinsmore Street in Botkins this afternoon, according to initial reports.

Initial crews on the scene reported seeing smoke coming from the building, 105 Dinsmore St., around 1:25 p.m.

Multiple fire departments are responding to the scene.
