A rainy and windy weekend is in the forecast for the Dayton area with a possibility for flooding and for record high temperatures.

A flood watch is in effect until 1 a.m. Sunday for Auglaize, Darke, Logan, Mercer and Shelby counties.

The rain totals from Friday and Saturday will range from one to three inches, forecasts predict.

Here’s what to expect each day:

Today

Going into the weekend, there is heavy, steady rain today in the Miami Valley that made this morning’s commute a wet one. Winds with gusts up to 30 mph will be breezy throughout the day until stronger winds of 40 mph roll in this evening.

High temperatures will reach the upper 50s, which could tie for the record high for 59 degrees, set in 2018. There will be a brief break from the rain during the evening before more rain showers will return overnight.

Saturday

Tomorrow there will be a few showers in the morning before gusty winds reaching 30 to 40 mph pick up during the day. By the mid-afternoon, temperatures will reach the middle 60s, which would break the record set of 59 in 2018.

The weekend will contiue to be wet as downpours will move in through the afternoon, followed by possible heavy rain and thunderstorms later in the day. Wind on Saturday evening could gust over 40 mph.

Sunday

Forecasts indicate the rain will taper off Sunday morning, finishing the weekend with dry and windy conditions.

Wind gusts reaching 30-35 mph are possible. The day will begin cool, with temperatures in the 30s, but highs will reach the 40s in the afternoon. There will be sunshine and scattered clouds leading into a calmer Monday with sunshine and a few clouds to begin the week.
