HUBER HEIGHTS — James Hensley Sr., a former Huber Heights attorney and Montgomery County district court judge for 18 years, lost his battle with melanoma on Friday, July 16, at the age of 79, his family said.
James Hensley Sr., the father of current district court Judge James Hensley Jr., was a Dayton police officer for 17 years before becoming a lawyer and eventually opening a legal practice, Hensley and Hensley, with his son.
The elder Hensley, who is survived by his four children and wife, Nora, specialized in personal injury and workers compensation cases. He also served as a district court judge in New Lebanon and Huber Heights.
“He was my best friend,” James Hensley Jr. said. “We shared everything: We worked together, went to family events together and even went to school together.”
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 21, at Newcomer Funeral Home North Chapel.
