OXFORD — Cincinnati Children’s Theatre will present a show teaching children the true meaning of the holidays Monday, Dec. 12.

The free performance of “The Gift of the Magi” will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Oxford Community Arts Center, 10 S. College Ave.

The play, which is presented by the Oxford Lane Library, is based on the short story by O. Henry. The literature-adapted performance follows Della and Jim, a young couple on a selfless journey to make each other’s holiday dreams come true.

It shows the importance of family and tradition at the time of the holidays.

“I think it is a good message for kids to learn because they are being bombarded with commercialism at this time of year,” said Carrie Mancuso, spokeswoman of the Oxford Lane Library.

The performance is open to children ages 5 and up and their families.
