Gas leak closes Carroll High School

RIVERSIDE — A small gas leak at a stove in a home economics classroom led to the 10 a.m. dismissal of Carroll High School today.

Principal Joseph Sens said the leak was detected around 8 a.m. The school’s 880 students were moved to an auxiliary classroom while Riverside Fire Department and Vectren assessed the situation, he said.

After consulting with fire and gas officials, school was dismissed, Sens said.

Fire and gas officials are continuing to check all lines and connects in the building.
