Gixo, a live fitness app, and Go Red for Women, the American Heart Association’s campaign for women’s heart disease and strokes, will partner for a charity walk/run today.
RELATED: Myths about heart disease in women
February is American Heart Month and with heart disease being the number one killer of women, this charity event wants to help women make lifestyle changes and mobilize communities to improve the health of all women.
The event will consist of Giox ambassadors, Go Red volunteers, walkers, runners, and fitness enthusiasts coming together to help raise awareness about heart disease and strokes in women, as well as raise funds for the campaign. For every mile a participant walks or runs, Giox will donate $10 to the American Heart Association.
Participants will wear red in solidarity and meet at Kyle Park, located at 500 S. 1st Street. The event is set to start at 3 p.m.
If one cannot make it in person, they are able to download the Giox app and still help raise money for a great cause.
