The OVI case against Lisa Wells, an attorney and WLW-700 radio personality, will be bound over to the county common pleas court for consideration by a grand jury, according to the clerk’s office for Miami County Municipal Court.

UPDATE @ 4:43 p.m. (Feb. 23):

Cruiser camera video that shows troopers arresting WLW radio personality for suspected OVI on I-75 in Miami County last month was released today.

Troopers in the video reported they found multiple loose prescription pills in the vehicle that Lisa Wells did not reportedly have a prescription for.

INITIAL REPORT:

Our news partner at WCPO is reporting that a WLW radio personality and defense attorney is facing charges of drug possession and operating a vehicle while impaired in Miami County.

According to official documents, Lisa Wells, 37, was charged after she was stopped by an Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper on southbound Interstate 75 near Piqua on Jan. 25.

The arresting officer said he found pills on the front seat of Wells’ car when he stopped her.

“When the driver exited, several pills were observed in plain view on the car’s seat … prescription pills were located during a probable cause search,” according to the officer’s report.

The specific drug is not named in court documents or the OSHP report, WCPO reports.

Wells faces four counts of Felony 5 drug possession, one count of first-degree misdemeanor drug possession, operating a vehicle while impaired and failure to drive in marked lanes, WCPO reports.

According to the OSHP report, the trooper responded after the Piqua Post received a report of someone driving erratically.

“Upon locating the vehicle, a moving violation was observed and a traffic stop was initiated,” the report said.

Wells was stopped at 8:20 p.m.

Wells, of West Chester Twp., has been a regular guest and legal analyst on WLW since 2011, according to her bio on her WLW blog. She also serves occasionally as a fill-in host.

Wells is scheduled for a preliminary hearing in Miami County Municipal Court in Troy on March 3.

When WCPO asked Wells about the charges by phone Tuesday, she replied: “I am not a public figure and you should not be reporting this.”

Wells then hung up, according to WCPO.

Wells is a defense attorney with her own law office in Covington, Ky. She used to work as a prosecutor in Kenton County Commonwealth Attorney’s Office, according to her law office website.
