And now it’s time for your four-way test. Will this outing get you out of work on a Monday? Yes! Will it build goodwill and better friendships? Yes! Is it fair for you to miss work? Yes, if you work extra hard the week before and the week after. Will it be beneficial to all concerned? The extra practice is good for your game, and fellowship with other golfers is a great way to network.
If you agree with the second paragraph, sign up as an individual or a team by the July 24 deadline. Registration for one costs $100, or you can register as a team for $400. A $500 Gold Tee Hole sponsorship includes golf for 4, program ad, promotional listing, and special recognition. A $300 Blue Tee Hole sponsorship includes 2 golfers, hole signage, program ad, and promotional listing. White Tee Hole sponsor includes hole signage, program ad, and promotional listing.
“This outing allows people to golf a course they may not otherwise get to golf,” said six-year Springboro Rotary Club member David Spencer, vp and North America head for L & T Infotech. “It’s a fun way for business professionals to get together and network.”
Spencer, who has held just about every office in the club including president, is currently sargeant-at-arms. An avid golfer since his teens, he has chaired the golf outing every year. He said the club netted $5,000 last year, all benefitting local programs.
Community-based projects include concession and picnic facilities at North Park, $1,000 college scholarships, and providing Apple Dumpling Books and dictionaries every year for Springboro second- and third-graders, respectively.
Overseas, Springboro Rotary has provided bedding and toiletries for homeless children in Chennai, India. A future project the club wants to do is providing facilities for an orphanage in Mumbai, India.
The format for the day is scramble golf, and ends with buffet dinner and cash bar.
Golfers arrive at 11:30 a.m. with a 12:30 p.m. shotgun start. There are prizes for the top teams, and a consolation prize of free golf lessons to the last-place team members.
Monetary donations are also accepted. To find out more about the outing, or obtain a registration form, call Spencer at (937) 748-8222, or e-mail davidpspencer@hotmail.com.
