FAIRFIELD TWP. — Those seeking salt for their driveways and de-icer for their cars Tuesday when the winter storm passes through will have one more place to find it.

The Fairfield Twp. Menards megastore opens at 2865 Princeton Road Tuesday.

“This new store is another example of our strong commitment to providing the best in home improvement goods and services plus shopping convenience in Ohio,” said Menards spokesman Jeff Abbott.

The first of its kind in the greater Cincinnati area, the store will carry materials and tools for home improvement, name brand appliances, pet products, lawn and garden supplies and groceries for a “one-stop shopping experience.”

General Manager Andy Hansen said 165 people have been hired for part-time, full-time and management positions, hopefully boosting what he says is the store’s best asset.

“Our service — it’s something we take pride in,” he said.

A diverse selection of products, including many items in stock as opposed to customers ordering items, the lumberyard and displays help to set the store apart from competitors, he said.

While the store will open Tuesday, a grand opening will be conducted later in February. At the event, store vendors will conduct demonstrations and celebrities are scheduled to attend, said Hansen. He wouldn’t name the celebrities set to attend, but said hinted it could be an athlete from The Ohio State University football team or the Cincinnati Reds.

“We’re excited as a company to be in this area and show everyone what we can offer. We can save people money and give people service,” Hansen said.
