Crews battled a vacant two-story house fire Thursday on Mechanicsburg Road.
The fire was reported around 4:45 p.m. across from Leen’s Carry-Out.
When crews arrived, smoke and flames were coming out of the roof and second floor windows, according to a Springfield firefighter. They tried to fight the fire from the outside due to the inside being unstable.
Fire officials said there was power still going to the house even though it was supposed to be abandoned.
Mechanicsburg Road is closed in both directions while crews clean up.
No one was injured and the fire is under investigation as crews work to learn the cause.
