Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day set for Sept. 12

The city of Centerville and Washington Twp are partnering with Montgomery County Solid Waste District to sponsor Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday Sept. 12at the Washington Twp. Public Works Department, 8190 McEwen Road.

Items accepted include: herbicides, pesticides, insecticides, mercury, flammable liquids, fire extinguishers, household propane cylinders, household cleaners, pool chemicals, and batteries and light bulbs of all types. Explosives or radioactive wastes are not accepted. No hazardous wastes from businesses, schools, organizations, or commercial entities will be accepted. This free event is open to all residents of Montgomery County. Proof of residency in Montgomery County is required.

Montgomery County accepts household hazardous waste items free of charge on a weekly basis at two locations: Saturdays at 1001 Encrete Ln. in Moraine and Tuesdays at 6589 Old Webster St. in Vandalia. Both locations accept items 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
