The population of the United States is projected to be 326,971,407 on New Year’s Day.

That's 2,314,238 more people than last year, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

The agency reports that during the first month of 2018 the U.S. will experience one birth every 8 seconds and one death every 10 seconds.

As for the projected world population - that number will increase by 78,521,283 to 7,444,443,881.

To put things in perspective, the estimated population of Ohio on July 1, 2017 was 11,658,609.
