Huffing suspected in fatal Auglaize Co. crash

UPDATE @ 9:29 a.m. (Dec. 1):

We have obtained a copy of the fatal crash report from the Nov. 8 crash that killed 16-year-old Noah Weber and injured two other teens.

According to the report, it’s possible that Weber and the driver, Garret Hale, 18, may have been huffing aerisols prior to the crash.

In a witness statement, passenger Dustyn Selhorst, 17, told troopers both Weber and Hale had been “hitting it” prior to the crash.

A urine test was administered to Hale, however the results of the test were not yet known, according to the report.

After receiving Selhorst’s witness statement, troopers recovered a single can of Maxell Blast Away, a multi-purpose duster and three cans of black spray paint. All of the cans were half to mostly full, according to the report.

A crash reconstruction team determined that there were no visible roadway markings that would have indicated any braking prior to the crash, and all four tires of the pickup truck were “bald”.
