Jobs program available to low-income teens

DAYTON — Teens looking for work in a summer jobs program for those in the low-income bracket must apply by April 8, according to the Montgomery County Department of Job and Family Services.

The department’s Summer Youth Works Program offers on-the-job training at stores and other businesses, hospitals, nonprofit organizations and government agencies, said Lucious Plant, work force development administrator.

The program is open to those ages 14 to 17, subject to income eligibility requirements for participation, officials said.
