‘Jolly Roger and the Pirate Queen’ set for May 14-15

The Oxford Cooperative Theater Company will perform “Jolly Roger and the Pirate Queen” by Craig Sodaro — produced by special arrangement with Pioneer Drama Service, Inc., Englewood, Colo. — at 7 p.m. May 14-15 and May 20-21 at the Oxford Community Arts Center.

The OCTC, now in its eighth season, gives homeschooled students from grades six through 12 hands on experience running a theater production, acting, applying stage makeup, costume construction, set and prop design, stage managing, as well as running sound and light equipment.

The play is set in the 1790s, with a cast of 26. The audience is whisked away from the southern U.S. seaboard onto several pirate ships and finally onto Treasure Island in the Caribbean. There will be adventure, suspense, a little romance, some laughter, and of course — pirates.

Admission is $6 in advance, $7 at the door. Please, no children younger than age 4. Tickets can be ordered by calling Missy at (513) 737-4331.
