JUST IN: New seafood restaurant & market in the works in Clayton

‘Neighborhood Fish & More’ could open this spring at 6556 N. Union Road

A seafood restaurant with a retail fish market is in the works in the Meadowbrook Crossing retail center in Clayton.

The new business, Neighborhood Fish & More, faces a regulatory hurdle tonight, Feb. 19, when its request for a conditional use is considered by the city of Clayton's Board of Zoning Appeals. But if that approval is granted, the new restaurant could be open as soon as the end of March at 6556 N. Union Road, its landlord, Mike Monaghan, who owns the retail shopping center, told this news outlet this morning.

The restaurant and market would occupy about 4,000 square feet of the shopping center, and it would have a drive-up window, Monaghan said.

“We’re excited,” Monaghan said. “We need more of these kinds of things in this area.”

Jack Kuntz, Clayton’s economic development director, said the restaurant must obtain approval of the conditional use in order to operate because that is required for all restaurants operating a drive-through window. He praised the concept.

“Anytime you have a unique restaurant idea in a community that is looking for diverse culinary options, it’s a good thing,” Kuntz said. “The people will appreciate another restaurant option.”
