INITIAL REPORT

Police are investigating the shooting of a juvenile Friday afternoon in Riverside.

The boy, who was shot in the face, has been taken to a hospital, a Riverside police sergeant said. His condition is not known.

The sergeant said the early investigation reveals the juvenile was shot at or near a house on Warrendale and South Pleasant Valley avenues, less than a block from where police were dispatched initially on the report of the shooting

Police and a medic unit, about 6:13 p.m., were sent to a Valero gas station in the 2500 block of Valley Pike. When police arrived, they ended up placing crime scene tape around a business next door, J&B Transmission. Crime scene tape remains around the business this evening.

At some point, police learned the juvenile may have been shot at another location. That's when they went to the house a block to the east at Warrendale and South Pleasant Valley avenues.

Police have put up crime scene tape around that house as well.

The investigation continues at both scenes.

There has been no word about a suspect.

We will update this developing report as we learn more.
