Kettering Applebee's closes, officials say jobs are safe

When George Self went to meet his friend for lunch today at Applebee's in Kettering, he was met with a locked door and a surprising message.

"When I came to the door, they were telling me they had been bought out by another company," he said.

The restaurant at 1450 W. Dorothy Ln. is closed for good, according to a release from management.

"There has been a change in ownership for this restaurant," the message stated. "The decision was made to close it."

Despite the closing, Applebee's officials say no jobs will be eliminated as a result.

"No team member positions have been eliminated," company spokesperson Dan Smith said in an interview. "All team members have been offered jobs at other locations."

Applebee's has three other locations in the immediate Dayton area.
