Kings Island to fill 4,000 summer jobs

MASON — Kings Island announced it is accepting applications to hire 4,000 part-time seasonal jobs for the summer.

Kings Island is now accepting applications on its website to fill the positions for the 2012 season.

The park is hiring for all areas of park operations including admissions, call center, cash control, entertainment, food and beverage, fire and safety, games, guest services, lifeguards, merchandise, rides, security, sweeps, and warehouse.

Each year the park receives between 15,000 and 20,000 applications for the positions, said Kings Island spokesman Don Helbig.

“The primary core of applicants will be high school and college students,” Helbig said. “But we also receive some older applicants looking for supplemental income.”

Helbig said the park receives a lot of applications from teachers looking for summer employment and also retirees.

“The application process has become a lot more competitive in recent years,” Helbig said. “In some cases, we may be interviewing 30 people for three spots. You really have to bring your A-game.”

Helbig said the majority of park applicants come from Hamilton, Butler, Warren and Clermont counties. He said that approximately 35 percent of applicants were from Hamilton County, 30 percent were from Warren County, and 20 percent were from Butler.

Interested parties can go to visitkingsisland.com to apply. Applicants must be at least 15-years-old. Qualified applicants will be contacted to schedule on-site interviews.

The park is scheduled to open April 28. It is currently in the midst of remodeling and expanding its water park, which will open Memorial Day weekend.
