Learn about beekeeping, native plants during annual Pollinator Expo

Wright-Patterson Air Force Base will hold its third annual Pollinator Expo June 19 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Wright Brothers Memorial near Area B.

“For the third year we are celebrating our Bee City designation with a Pollinator Expo,” said Danielle Trevino, 88th Civil Engineering biological scientist. “This free, family-friendly event is a great opportunity for the public to come out and learn about pollinators, native plants and beekeeping.”

Trevino said at the expo, experts from across the state will be on site to share their knowledge on how to help protect pollinator populations.

This year’s expo will also include free activities for children, a native plant sale, face painting, a live bee demonstration and information on beekeeping.

Also, in the Wright-Memorial interpretation center there will be a showing of a film highlighting the Beavercreek Wetlands Association. The film will be continuously played throughout the duration of the expo.

“We rely on pollinators to protect our planet’s biodiversity and food supply,” said Trevino. “We hope folks will come out, grab some lunch and learn how every one of us can help sustain pollinator species.”
