DAYTON — An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday for an 18-year-old male whose body was found behind an abandoned house in what Dayton police say is Montgomery County’s first homicide of 2012.

Police were called to 4932 Genesee Ave. on Tuesday afternoon. The victim, identified by a relative as Alexander Lee, was shot at least once, Dayton Sgt. Dan Mauch said.

Police believe Lee was shot Monday. Asked about a neighbor’s report to WHIO-TV that she heard shots on Sunday, Mauch said, “That’s a possibility, probably not a probability.”

The teen victim did have identification on his person, but Mauch would not release his identity. However, two women who spoke to WHIO-TV's Layron Livingston identified the victim as Lee. The women identified themselves as Lee's mother and girlfriend.

Asked about whether the victim had been in trouble in the past, Mauch said detectives had not had a chance to research that.

The body was found behind the house, a single- story structure whose windows had been boarded over. A sign on the door read no trespassing."

The body was found in an area obstructed by the house as well as a garage behind the house and a second vacant house.

Mauch said the property owner came over to check on the house and found the body. The house showed no signs of a break-in, he said.

It was too early to speculate on a possible motive, as police did not know why the victim was there or whom he was meeting, Mauch said.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Dayton police at 333-COPS.
