Outages remain following gusty winds, snow squalls

Power outages remain across the region, following gusty winds and snow squalls in the Miami Valley Thursday.

At 2:30 a.m. 694 Dayton Power and Light customers in Logan County were still without power. Other minimal outages were reported in Montgomery, Preble, Miami, and Greene counties.

A Duke Energy outage map reports 269 customers remain without power in Warren County. Only seven outages are currently reported in Butler County.

UPDATE @ 11:45 p.m.

Hundreds are still in the dark tonight after gusty winds and snow squalls were reported across the region.

The largest number without power as of 11:30 p.m. was 694 in Logan County, followed by 677 in the Middletown, Franklin area, according to online outage maps from Dayton Power & Light and Duke Energy.

Other outages as of 11:45 p.m. included 39 in Clark County; 36 in Greene County; 23 in Darke County; six in Montgomery County; three in Champaign County; and one each in Auglaize, Miami and Preble counties, according to DP&L, Duke, Ohio Edison and Pioneer Electric Cooperative online outage maps.

UPDATE @ 9:10 p.m.

A few thousand utility customers remain without power tonight after gusty winds and snow squalls were reported across the region.

The majority of the power outages as of 9 p.m. were centered in the Middletown, Franklin area, where there were more than 1,900 in the dark, according to the Duke Energy Corp. online outage map.

Dayton Power & Light reported several hundred outages as of 9 p.m., including 728 in Logan County. Other outages included 74 in Shelby County; 36 in Greene County; 23 in Clark and Greene counties; 10 in Montgomery County; two in Auglaize County and one each in Champaign, Miami and Preble counties.

Ohio Edison reported an additional 15 outages in Clark County, and Pioneer Electric Cooperative had 270 outages reported in Champaign County on its online outage map.

FIRST REPORT

Thousands are without power after there were reports of snow squalls in the region, the majority of outages in Butler County.

Duke Energy reported more than 3,000 customers without power in Butler County with more than 2,100 outages in the Liberty Twp. area. The estimated restoration time is 7 p.m., according to the utility’s online outage map.

Duke also reported 509 outages in Warren County near Lebanon with an estimated restoration time of 9 p.m.

Dayton Power & Light reported more than 800 outages as of 6:30 p.m., with 633 of those in Logan County. Other outages included: 68 in Shelby County; 44 in Miami County; 36 in Greene County; 24 in Darke County; 23 in Clark County; 13 in Montgomery County and one in Auglaize County.

Ohio Edison reported 12 outages in Clark County, as of 6:40 p.m.
