A 65-year-old Dayton man accused of forcing a woman at knifepoint to engage in sex acts changed his plea to not guilty by reason of insanity.

James W. Moore initially pleaded not guilty in September, but changed the plea in early October, according to Montgomery County Common Pleas Court documents.

Moore’s attorney requested mental competency and sanity evaluations as well.

A mental competency evaluation was ordered Tuesday, with a report scheduled for early December, according to court documents.

A grand jury indicted Moore on rape, felonious assault and kidnapping.

The charges stem from a Sept. 4 incident where Moore allegedly sexually assaulted a woman.
