Damien Pollock, 28, of Springfield, was pulled from trash he was buried under Tuesday morning after police said he was dumped by a Rumpke truck releasing its load at the Montgomery County Solid Waste District facility in Moraine, police records show.

The man escaped without life-threatening injuries, but was taken to Kettering Medical Center, authorities said. A Rumpke truck transported the man from Springfield, where he told police he was left in a Dumpster.

The man was fortunate to survive the ordeal that ended at the Sandridge Drive facility, where authorities said a front loader was working to move the dumped trash toward a compacting area when the discovery was made.

Pollock told police that he was assaulted by a group of nearly a dozen people that set him on fire and put him in the Dumpster, according to a police report.

He reportedly heard the cocking of a gun as well.

Pollock did not have any burns, but did have scrapes, cuts and possible internal injuries, according to police. However, it was not clear if it was from the reported assault or from being in the trash.
