Man sought for cigarette theft from Riverside convenience store

Riverside police are asking for the public’s help in locating a man accused of stealing cigarettes from a local convenience store.

Police said a man stole several cartons of cigarettes from Sammy’s Gas Station at 1290 Woodman Avenue in Riverside around 9:45 p.m. on Feb. 1.

After the man asked to purchase the cartons of cigarettes, he then asked the clerk for cigars. While the clerk turned away from the counter, the thief grabbed the cartons on the counter and fled from the store, investigators said in a release.

Police did not specify if the man fled on foot or in a vehicle.
