Dayton man convicted of strangling ex-girlfriend sentenced Tuesday

Keason Herron, of Dayton, was sentenced to 15 years to life for his murder conviction.

Herron, 40, will receive 21 years to life with when combined with his additional convictions.

FIRST REPORT 

A 40-year-old man who strangled his ex-girlfriend will learn his sentence today, according to court records.

Keason Herron, of Dayton, was convicted of murder, felonious assault, tampering with evidence and having weapons under disability.

In August 2017, Herron strangled 37-year-old Leanette Newton to death in his Blanche Street home.

In a 911 call, Herron said he attempted to revive her and that Newton broke into his house the night before and they got into a fight.
