The first crash was reported around 12:45 p.m. on state Route 49 just north of state Route 47. An SUV lost control on snow-covered roads and crashed into a tree, according to the newspaper.

After that crash a car lost control, went off the side of the road, and crashed into the SUV.

The driver of the SUV, only identified as a woman, was transported by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital. Her condition was not available.

The driver of the car and her daughter suffered non-life threatening injuries and were transported to Wayne HealthCare in Greenville for treatment.

Shortly after the two crashes, the Darke County Sheriff’s Office issued a Level 1 Snow Emergency due to hazardous driving conditions across the county.

“Travel is not being limited at this time; however, blowing and drifting snow is causing some roadways to become slick and hazardous,” a sheriff’s office spokesperson said in a media release.
