Miami County news: Tree collection starts Saturday

TROY

Christmas tree collection begins Dec. 26

The Miami County Transfer Station and Recycling Center on County Road 25A between Troy and Piqua will collect Christmas trees for recycling at no charge beginning Saturday.

Last winter, the county mulched nearly 4,000 pounds of wood from trees. Some municipal waste haulers pick up Christmas trees for delivery to the transfer station. Private haulers should be contacted to see if they charge for pick up.

The tree stand, hooks, plastic bags and all non-biogradable ornaments should be removed before taking the tree to the curb or to the transfer station.
