A crash involving a police officer on Southbound I-75 in Miami Township closed the interstate late Saturday, April 21, 2018.

Charges filed against driver of pickup that hit Miami Twp. police officer on I-75

Adam Blackmore is formally charged with OVI, proceeding without due regard for safety and failure to drive in marked traffic lanes.

He is to be in court on May 21.


Miami Twp. police Officer Tyler Simpson is the officer who was struck Saturday by pickup truck on I-75 South while responding to a crash scene 

He was struck about 9 p.m. near the Ohio 725 interchange, according to the township.

Simpson, 28, started his career with the Miami Twp. Police Department in September 2012, according to the township. 

He was removed to Kettering Medical Center by the Miami Valley Fire District for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. He is now resting at home for what is expected to be a lengthy recovery.
