Monster milestone reached for 2 Kings Island rides

Two of King Island’s long-standing family attractions are celebrating their 45th anniversary this season.

Race for Your Life Charlie Brown and the Monster originally opened in 1968 at Cincinnati’s Coney island amusement park, according to a press release. The rides were transported to Kings Island in 1971, where they have continued to be popular.

The Monster has dizzied more than 22 million patrons since opening, as it raises and drops riders in circles. Meanwhile, Race for Your Life Charlie Brown has soaked over 43 million riders, making it the fifth-most popular ride in park history. The water attraction was previously known as the Kings Mill Log Flume.
