Ceremony for commissioners set for Monday
Two of the five members of the Dayton City Commission will be sworn in to four-year terms at a ceremony scheduled for Monday at 10 a.m. The ceremony will take place in the City Commission Chambers on the second floor of City Hall, 101 W. Third St.
Commissioner Matthew Joseph will begin a fourth term, and Commissioner-Elect Christopher L. Shaw will begin his first term.

Seat open on water, sewer board
City Council is accepting applications for a vacant seat on the Citizens Water and Sewer Advisory Board.
Applications will be accepted until Friday, Jan. 8, and can be obtained at City Hall, 6131 Taylorsville Road or from the City of Huber Heights website, www.hhoh.org.
Applicants must be a Huber Heights resident and a registered voter. Experience is not required.

Companies invited to participate in intern program
The Montgomery County Solid Waste District is accepting applications from local businesses for the P2 Internship Program, which places an engineering intern at a local manufacturing company to complete a pollution prevention (P2) project.
Approximately 75 percent of the intern’s salary will be reimbursed to participating companies. Businesses that participate in the program for the first time this year will also receive a free energy assessment from the UD Industrial Assessment Center.
Applications for summer internships are available at www.mcswd.org and are due Wednesday, Jan., 20 for prior host companies. To qualify for the program, the company must be located in Montgomery County and identify a project suitable for an intern that supports long-term environmental goals such as source reduction, energy efficiency, reuse, recycling and energy recovery.

Committee accepting applications for arts grants
The Vandalia Cultural Arts Advisory Committee is taking applications for its 2016 grant program.
To be eligible, the art display or performance must take place between July 1, 2016 and June 30, 2017 and directly benefit the city of Vandalia and its residents.
Up to $7,500 will be granted this year.
