Moraine 2017 budget includes $4.6M in capital projects

The city of Moraine’s 2017 proposed budget includes capital improvements spending of about $4.65 million, 73 percent of which is targeted for three areas.

Engineering is targeted for nearly $1.5 million, buildings and parks maintenance is set to get about $1.08 million, and parks and recreation is in line for $847,858, city records show.

The $4.65 million is about $1 million fewer than was budgeted this year, but significantly higher to t the estimated $3 million planned two years ago, records show.

A breakdown of the proposal set to be approved by Moraine City Council tonight at its 6 p.m. meeting includes:

-Engineering, $1,496,211;

-Building and parks maintenance, $1,085,500;

-Parks and rec, $847,858;

-Police, $216,700;

-Fire, $235,000;

-Streets, $214,000.
