Motorcyclist seriously injured in Moorefield crash

A motorcycle rider was flown to a Dayton hospital with serious injuries Friday after a car pulling into a Moorefield Twp. driveway turned in front of him, causing a collision.

The motorcycle was southbound on Bosart Road about 3:52 p.m. when a northbound PT Crusier turning into a residential driveway failed to yield, according to Trooper David Slanker of the Ohio State Highway Patrol's Springfield post.

The man, whose identity wasn't released, was taken by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton with a serious leg injury.

"He had extensive lower extremity injuries," Slanker said.

Two nurses who reside nearby in the 4700 block of Bosart rushed to help the injured rider.

"We applied pressure and talked to him and tried to reassure him," said Diane Myers, a retired nurse.

Myers, who lost her own son to a motorcycle crash, had seen the bike go past her window, but it didn't appear to be speeding.

"I heard a skidding and a crash, and I knew something happened," she said.

Slanker said the driver of the car, who was unhurt, was responsible.

"She definitely failed to yield," he said. "That's what caused the collision."
