Moving company opens new store; growth foreseen

HUBER HEIGHTS — Two Men and a Truck is not a new sitcom — it is a growing moving company that just opened a new franchise at 7580 Brandt Pike.

On Dec. 1, the Huber Heights Board of Zoning Appeals unanimously approved granting a variance for the business to allow it to operate in a B-1 commercial district.

Board members decided the business was similar in character to a nearby plumbing store and other shops.

David Malseed, 28, the franchisee of the new location, said he already has seven employees and two trucks, and would like to ramp up to 15 employees by March.

Within two years, Malseed said he hopes to have 30 or more employees and six trucks, and possibly a new satellite office. He estimates revenue of $1 million a year, and signed a one-year lease with the owner of his building.

Two Men and a Truck was founded in 1985 in Lansing, Mich., and since then, it has grown to 200 stores worldwide, with stores in 32 states.

The company has stores in Centerville, Columbus, Toledo, Cleveland and Cincinnati.

Malseed said the new location will allow the company to better serve Dayton and the area north of it. Two Men and a Truck offers moving and packing services, and sells boxes and packing supplies.
