According to a release from the Franklin Division of Police, emergency crews responded to the 900 block of North Main Street on a report of a single vehicle crash at 5:14 p.m.
After investigation, police found that the vehicle was traveling southbound on North Main Street when the driver lost control and the vehicle struck a guardrail. It flipped upside down into a ravine.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger was able to escape the vehicle with minor injuries and was transported to the hospital.
The crash remains under investigation.
INITIAL REPORT
Ambulances left a crash scene Saturday evening with lights flashing and sirens blaring following a single-vehicle crash, witnesses said.
The crash was reported at 5:15 p.m. in the 900 block of North Main Street in Franklin.
A CareFlight medical helicopter initially was requested, but later was canceled, according to the Franklin Division of Police.
The cause of the crash and extent of injuries was not known.
