FAIRFIELD — A new Cincinnati Mall business aims to generate a buzz by helping parents keep children active.
Bee Active Adventure Zone is a 23,000-square-foot kids activity center that features seven giant inflatable attractions and a gymnastics area.
“Bee Active is a place where a sedentary lifestyle can be discouraged,” said owner/operator Angie DeMers. “By giving (kids) something fun to do that’s also active, they’re not going to be wanting to stay home. They’re going to want to have fun.”
The cost to play is $10 per hour per child. Discounted days include 2-For-1 Tuesdays and $5 Fridays. Annual memberships begin at $185 for one child. Memberships net two hours of free play per visit then $5 per hour thereafter.
Bee Active offers a seating area for parents with WiFi and cable TV.
James Kitanga of Forest Park said his four children love going to Bee Active so much that he purchased a $290 gold membership pass rather than pay $40 in admission charges for each visit.
“If they go there every weekend, that’s $160 a month,” he said.
In addition to walk-in business, Bee Active also hosts birthday parties and field trips, which include an hour on the inflatables followed by an hour in a party room.
This summer, the business plans to add a kids’ mechanical bull, dart leagues, air hockey and more interactive games. A restaurant, Stewie’s Grill, is slated to open this fall and will offer homemade pizza, plus beer on tap and “restaurant-style” fare such as chicken fingers and hamburgers.
