New digital fingerprint machine

A new digital fingerprint machine has been purchased for the Miami County Sheriff’s Office. The unit including a live scan system, development, extended warranty and support will be bought from Biometric Information Management of Dublin, Ohio, for up to $24,568. The purchase was approved by the county commission.

Chief Deputy Dave Duchak said the existing fingerprint system was bought in 2007 using a grant. Law enforcement information security criteria next year will require a higher operating system than now in use. The new unit meets those requirements as well as those for fingerprints submitted to the FBI, Miami Valley Crime Lab and other organizations, Duchak said. NANCY BOWMAN, CONTRIBUTING WRITER
