The site is behind the Springboro Performing Arts Center, which opened last month as the first building completed in redevelopment of more than 60 acres at the city’s central crossroads at Ohio 73 and Ohio 741, Central Avenue and Main Street.

The performing arts center is expected to anchor the six-acre redevelopment of the former Springboro IGA Plaza, once the social center of the community. City officials have said the development, Wright Station, was expected to feature a restaurant, as well as pilot brewing, taproom and distribution for Dayton-based Warped Wing Brewing. Other developments are expected over the next five years.

A month ago, when Springboro City Manager Chris Pozzuto was asked about a business, such as a pizza parlor, moving into the former Campioni’s, he replied in an email, “No one has filed any permits.”
The limited liability corporation that applied for the liquor license on behalf of Heroes Pizza House was incorporated with the state on Aug. 1 by Springboro residents Melissa Curry Buehler and Michael Buehler, according to the Ohio Secretary of State’s online records.

A liquor-license application is often one of the first steps taken in the early development stages of a new restaurant or bar, and it does not always lead to a business opening, since such businesses must navigate several more regulatory and financial obstacles before serving their first customers.
Campioni’s PIzza, which made national headlines in 2016 for a marquee sign slamming then-presidential-candidate Hilary Clinton, shut its doors in 2017.
