Old pole snaps, briefly shuts down Wilmington Ave.

An old utility pole snapped, forcing the closure of Wilmington Avenue after wires were down across the roadway.

Wilmington Avenue was closed in both directions for nearly an hour, starting shortly before 8 p.m., near the intersection with Shadowlawn Avenue.

According to the Dayton Fire Department, the wire went to a vacant house, but the wire was hot.

Dayton Power & Light Co. was on scene to remove the wire.
